11. Joining the Hunter Team (2)
“Let me make this absolutely clear. Yu Su is not allowed to join my gathering team. Anyone who dares to bring him here will be promptly expelled!” Ya Shan’s gaze swept across You Yu and Yu Zhu, instilling a sense of fury within them.
Just as You Yu prepared to speak up in defense, she noticed Yu Su’s arrival. Realizing that Yu Su had no intention of rejoining the gathering team, she quickly regained her composure and returned to the team.
Unaware of Yu Su’s presence, Ya Shan continued to disparage him.
“Ahem! Ahem!” Someone deliberately coughed loudly to draw Ya Shan’s attention to Yu Su.
Startled, Ya Shan turned around and spotted Yu Su approaching. Initially, she seemed uneasy, but her usual self-assured demeanor quickly resurfaced as she addressed Yu Su, “Since you’ve heard me, do not follow us anymore. Our gathering team has no use for worthless individuals like you.”
Marching forward, Yu Su nonchalantly retorted, “Just for you to know, you can’t afford to keep me either.”
The meaning behind his words eluded Ya Shan, but before she could make sense of it, Yu Su brushed past her and headed toward the hunter team.
At the helm of the hunter team stood Yu Feng, a seasoned hunter from the same village, his muscular arms testament to his formidable strength.
Enviously gazing at Yu Feng, Yu Su expressed his desire to join the hunter team.
“Hahaha,” scoffed Yu Da, a member of the hunter team. “You, with your feeble physique, wish to join the hunter team? You must be dreaming.”
Several hunters, seemingly on good terms with Yu Da, joined in the mockery, advising Yu Su to return to the gathering team.
Yu Feng appeared slightly embarrassed as he stared at Yu Su. “It’s not that I don’t want to accept you, but considering your recent injury, are you capable of running?”
In truth, even if Yu Su hadn’t been injured, no one would have considered him a competent runner. Yu Feng’s words merely saved him from embarrassment.
Without hesitation, Yu Su responded, “I won’t slow you down. If you deem me a burden, feel free to leave me behind.”
Yu Feng was taken aback. He hadn’t anticipated such audacious words from the typically timid Yu Su. Worried that Yu Su was speaking out of anger, especially after the recent mockery from Yu Da and the others, Yu Feng hesitated.
Sensing his hesitation, Yu Su added, “If you don’t want me to join you guys, I won’t mind going alone.”
However, such an option was unacceptable. If they truly abandoned Yu Su, Chief Hong would undoubtedly reprimand them severely.
Contemplating Chief Hong’s stern disposition, Yu Feng deemed it unwise to challenge him. He conceded, “It is too perilous for you to venture alone. Just follow us.”
“Captain, I don’t agree,” Yu Da spoke up, his voice tense. “Yu Su will only slow us down. I don’t want to be chased by our prey just because he can’t catch anything.”
Yu Su looked at Yu Da, and both of them held a malicious glare.
Yu Su smirked and lifted his leg, kicking a nearby stone pedestal.
With a loud crack, the pedestal shattered into fragments and scattered across the ground.
The team fell into silence.
Yu Su surveyed each person in the team with a sharp gaze. “I won’t be the one holding the team back,” he declared firmly.
His action astonished everyone with his display of strength.
Yu Da’s face paled as he recalled the gruesome scene when Yu Xiong had returned home.
“Uncle Feng, can we go now?” Yu Su asked Yu Feng.
Yu Feng snapped back to attention and looked sharply at Yu Su. “Sure, Yu Su. Have you grown stronger?”
Yu Su repeated the excuse he had given to You Yu the day before.
Yu Feng was astonished. “Did you say you saw the God of Mountains?”
Yu Su nodded.
Yu Feng’s expression changed. If Yu Su truly received the blessing of the God of Mountains, it was no trivial matter. After the hunt, he would have to inform Chief Hong about it.
The hunting team set off.
All the women from the gathering team, except for You Yu, were surprised to see Yu Su joining the hunting team.
